MYP is a community which provides young professionals with opportunities to meet like minded people, develop professional networks and create friendships.
There’s far more to Marlborough than battling it out for the sunniest town in New Zealand! Nestled between grape vines, surrounded by mountains and only a short drive to the Marlborough Sounds, few towns are so well placed.
But it can be a hard place to break into (trust us, we’d know!).
That’s where MYP comes in. Founded in April 2018 and fueled by the best wine (and craft beer) Marlborough has to offer, our goal is to host a range of events and activities that let our members socialise and network while making the most of everything Blenheim has to offer.
Our committee members are dedicated to creating the best networking group for young professionals here in Marlborough.
Nicky is MYP’s Vice President and has been enjoying living in sunny Blenheim since 2016. As the Marketing Communications Manager for Destination Marlborough Nicky showcases all that Marlborough has to offer and has great ideas and inside knowledge for MYP events. In her spare time you’ll find Nicky soaking up the outdoors with friends, grilling up a storm on the BBQ or battling it out on the touch-rugby field.
Our Treasurer, Jordan is a young professional working as an Advisor at WK Accounting.
Jordan grew up in Invercargill and completed her studies in Dunedin. Post studies Jordan lived in Queenstown and moved to Marlborough 9 months ago when she was offered her position at WK.
Jordan is sporty and sociable. She plays Netball as shooter / attacker / goal shooter? (Whatever it’s called…) at both competitive and social levels and has been a strong member to MYP Social Volleyball Team. In her free time, Jordan enjoys socialising with friends.
Maighan is our secretary and one of the founding members of MYP. Born and bred in Marlborough, Maighan has travelled and worked around the world before returning to Marlborough in 2017. Outside of work you’ll find Maighan down the Marlborough Sounds, running around on a netball court or attempting to keep her many house plants alive. Her goals for MYP are to continue to build a fun and innovative young professionals group here in Marlborough.
One of the original MYPs, David moved to Marlborough from Wellington. He manages the MYP branding and Facebook page which he hopes to succeed in having the most professional looking Facebook page out of all the Young Professional groups in New Zealand. David is passionate about photography and hiking (if you ever want a hiking buddy he’s it and will most likely be the organiser of any future MYP hikes, so hit him up with any suggestions). His proudest achievement is being captain of the MYP volleyball team in which he boasts being the 7th best volleyball team in Marlborough’s social division.
Matt is our diligent social media and web design guru for MYP. Gracing us with his presence after a quick stint living in the Tasman, Matt is keen to develop the newly formed MYP into an impeccable hub for young professionals to connect and grow.
Outside of work Matt is a passionate footballer, mountain biker, and all-round good guy.
Duncan is one of the few members of our committee that is a marlborough local. He has been a staff member at the Marlborough City council for nearly 7 years, and has been in his current role of engineer officer for 2 of those years, he is also the MDC social club treasurer. Outside of work and MYP you can find Duncan gaming, reading, dining, watching movies and travelling. His hope for MYP is that it will be a place to help facilitate young professionals meeting and forming friendships in Marlborough.
